In letzter Zeit war ja viel die Rede von der Privatsphären-Politik auf Facebook. Etwas unbemerkt von der grossen Aufregung hat Apple neue Regeln für die Benutzer eines iPhones eingeführt.

To provide location-based services on Apple products, Apple and our partners and licensees may collect, use, and share precise location data, including the real-time geographic location of your Apple computer or device.

Nun kann man dem nicht einfach zustimmen oder auch nicht. Die neue Regel wird mit dem anstehenden Update aller iPhones auf iOS 4 eingeführt.

Die Lokalisierung der iPhones ist mit Blick auf die Werbeplattform iAd zu verstehen. So wird es künftig möglich sein, sagen wir jemandem, der in der Zürcher Bahnhofstrasse einen Blick auf sein iPhone wirft,gezielt Werbung von umliegenden Geschäften (“our partners”) zu schicken. Selbstverständlich achtet Apple auf die Privatsphäre des iPhone-Besitzers.

For example, we may share geographic location with application providers when you opt in to their location services.

Schmackhaft gemacht wird die neue Überwachung mit der Dienstleistung “Find My iPhone”. Wird das Ding gestohlen, kann man es über Apples Dienst lokalisieren.

Some location-based services offered by Apple, such as the MobileMe “Find My iPhone” feature, require your personal information for the feature to work.
